DESCRIPTION:

  • Social media platform designed to find, plan, schedule and synchronize local events with friends. Users have the ability to accept or reject requests into private groups. Groups on the app possess the ability to coordinate, both schedules and directions, to events. Includes group calendar and mapping functionality. Full app functionality includes:

  • - User profiles designed to find, connect, and join with other profiles to create a "squad"

  • - "Squad" (groups) include chat functionality via Socket.io

  • - Shared calendars within the groups provide push notifications to upcoming scheduled events

  • - Integration of Google Maps

  • API provides mapping and directions to events in-app

  • - Groups can be either private or public

  • - OAuth ability

  • - Events can either be public or private

  • - Local events can be searched via app using Google API, or new events can be created and guests can be specially invited to event

  • - "IOU" functionality (in development) designed to provide payment methods among "sqaud" members, eventually aimed at integrating Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, Square, etc.

DESCRIPTION:

  • Coding "Stack-a-thon" challenge to build a functional website or app within one week, during bootcamp. The app was designed to allow users to upload playlists from Spotify in order to match/date/friend other users based on similar song preferences and genres. App included:

A little about me......

My name is Joshua Buchman and I am a
Full-Stack Software Engineer based in NYC.My professional background includes experience in both software and hardware systems which has given me a unique and valuable perspective of the IT world.After graduating college, I worked in different roles including project management, network support and teaching mathematics, one of my favorite subjects. I continued to utilize my teaching skills, to develop and instruct an IT orientation for a company of over 1500 employees. I’ve obtained many soft skills from my different roles including excellent interpersonal communication, self sufficiency and the ability to teach and work well with others.Ultimately, I returned to my roots of software development because I revere the creative aspect and logical conception of coding. I decided to go back to school and attend coding bootcamp to further my technical knowledge of web development. In the process I found my true passion is building and maintaining applications, problem solving and creative ingenuity.When I'm not coding my latest app, I advocate for fellow Jewish LGBTQIA+ individuals and volunteer in a local support group for the community. I enjoy EDM music, lover of all animals and true foodie at heart.
